Fake trading platforms promising guaranteed high returns
How this scam works
Scammers create fake trading groups, platforms, and "expert" personas promising guaranteed returns in stocks, crypto, or forex. They may show fake profits, use paid actors, and create elaborate websites. Once you invest significant amounts, your money disappears.
These scams often start with free "tips" groups on Telegram or WhatsApp, building credibility before pushing victims to invest in fake platforms.
Warning signs
- ⚠️Guaranteed high returns (no legitimate investment offers this)
- ⚠️Pressure to invest quickly before "opportunity closes"
- ⚠️Unknown trading platforms or apps
- ⚠️Celebrity endorsements (usually fake)
- ⚠️Requests for crypto payment (irreversible)
- ⚠️Screenshots of profits (easily faked)
Real examples
“I made Rs.2.5 lakhs last month using this simple trading trick! Limited spots in my free mentorship group. DM "PROFIT" to join.”
No legitimate trader guarantees returns. "Limited spots" creates false urgency. This leads to investment fraud.
“Crypto investment opportunity! 50% returns guaranteed in 30 days. Trusted by 10000+ investors. Minimum investment Rs.5000.”
Guaranteed returns in crypto don't exist. This is a Ponzi scheme.
What to do
- ✓No investment offers guaranteed returns
- ✓Only invest through SEBI-registered brokers
- ✓Verify any platform on SEBI website before investing
- ✓Never invest based on WhatsApp/Telegram tips
- ✓If you can't afford to lose it, don't invest it
